Worlds Largest Disco Ball

World Record Breaker
The largest Disco Ball in
the world confirmed!!!!

Weighing in at nearly 1.5tons with a surface area of nearly 80square metres And a diameter of 5.01meters. Approx 8000 100square centimetre mirror tiles and over 10,000 rivets. Rotation by a 5ton hydraulic rotator and Hanging on a single fixing point It’s a confirmed world record…… as confirmed on Friday 13th October 2006 by Guinness world Records.

Under construction with a trial run just to make sure each quarter fits with the 5.5meter steel shaft that will take the final total weight of the ball.

Each Quarter of the Ball being moved into place after being tiled by the team for three days, the top two pieces have to be joined and lifted clear for the bottom two pieces to be joined and the shaft ready in the centre the top is then lowered onto the bottom and the rotator on the rigging connected to the shaft to finally lift and rotate the ball. The legs are also removed as these are for set up only and any gaps filled with tiles.
